X and Y are the founders of  Z Corporation, a very well known IT Company. Sources say that both names were in "recognition of great contributions to the science of Dipterology.

X is a show tune from the 1945 Rodgers and Hammerstein musical Carousel.

In the musical, in the second act, Nettie Fowler, the cousin of the female protagonist Julie Jordan, sings X to comfort and encourage Julie when her husband, Billy Bigelow, the male lead, kills himself to avoid capture during a failed robbery.
